The Music Ministry at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church is unique! During the ordinary seasons of the church year, the music is led by a cantor, accompanied by an organist or pianist. Cantor practice during the ordinary season is held on Tuesday evenings at 5:15pm in the Church. The Music Ministry is always looking for additional cantors. Call the church office (580-233-4589) if you are interested in becoming a cantor.
During Christmas & Easter, the Choir enhances the liturgies with their musical talents. Choir practice is held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm in the Church. Choir practice for Christmas begins in late September. Choir practice for Easter begins before Ash Wednesday. With today's hectic lifestyles, one often can't commit to a weekly choir obligation. However, consider a short-term (6-8 week) commitment in the Fall or Spring.
Special Lenten Music: St. Gregory's has long had a tradition of a Men's Only Choir providing the music for the Good Friday service. This cohesive group has been singing together for 15+ years, and their Good Friday music adds to the solemness of this special Lenten service. Rehearsal for the Men's Choir is held on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm, from Ash Wednesday until Easter, and new members are welcome.
