The Pre-K and Kindergarten age children attend a class that is specially designed just for their age group. It is a loving, hands-on experience for the very young in faith. In their self-contained classroom they participate in many different kinds of activities to build a strong foundation for their faith.
ARK - Adventures in Religion for Kids. Elementary Classes of Religious Education at St. Gregory's are part of a rotation model that empahsizes multi-dimensional learning for the children rather than the traditional classroom model. In this model the children study a Bible lesson or doctrine lesson using a variety of media (art, storytelling, cooking, games, theater, and computer) over several weeks by moving to a different classroom designed around a Bible story.
As examples, the storytelling classroom is painted with the story of the Sermon on the Mount and the children sit on pillows at a low table for their instruction. The art room is called a Market Place and is decorated with a mural of Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. (Come see for yourself!)
The current ARK Theme is The Beatitudes.
Middle School and High School aged students have a classes of their very own. These students begin their gathering time with contemporary music in the Master Peace Theater and then move to their individual classes in the Lord Rock Cafe (Youth Room). At various times throughout the year, this age group of students help with the younger children, plan church-wide service projects, and lead all youth masses.
Adult RE Classes are held at the same time as Children RE Classes. During these classes adults discuss a wide variety of topics ranging from Bible studies to social issues.
