There are several opportunities to become involved in church music at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

Full Choir - During Christmas & Easter, the Choir enhances the liturgies with their musical talents. Choir practice for Christmas begins in late September.  Choir practice for Easter begins before Ash Wednesday.  Rehearsals are  held on Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the church.  With today's hectic lifestyles, a person often can't commit to a year-long choir obligation.  However, consider a short-term (6-8 week) commitment in the Fall or Spring.

Contemporary Ensemble - The Contemporary Ensemble sings on the last Sunday of the month.  This group sings songs that are exciting with regard to melodies and rhythms and includes compositions from the newest Catholic composers.  The group invites instrumentalists to join, and currently includes guitars, flute, violin and recorder.  The group rehearses the Tuesday evening (before the last Sunday of the month), and promises a motto of "One Rehearsal, One Sunday".  This is a great opportunity for those who have limited time, but enjoy singing harmonies and sharing musical talents with our faith community.

Men's Good Friday Choir - St. Gregory's has long had a tradition of a Men's Only Choir providing the music for the Good Friday service.  This cohesive group has been singing together for 15+ years, and their Good Friday music adds to the solemness of this special Lenten service.  Rehearsal for the Men's Choir is held on Tuesday evenings at 630pm, from  Ash Wednesday until Easter, and new members are welcome.

Cantors - If you really want to step up your game and have a sincere willingness and ability to sing in front of the congregation, consider joining our cantor group.  Cantors rotate weekends and when scheduled, will sing at both Masses that particular weekend.  We currently have a roster of approx seven cantors, so this obligation rolls around once every 6-7 weeks.  New cantors are teamed up with our seasoned cantors, and will never be left to "solo" until comfortable with the music, the protocols, and the cues.  Contact the church office at 580.233.4589 and leave your name with the Parish Secretary.
