Ushers are entrusted with promoting a sense of welcoming and belonging to all the faithful assembled for worship. They are the first point of contact for the communal celebration of the Liturgy and because of this, should take special steps in being living representatives of Christ's love. Ushers minister to the entire community in a very active way. By freeing each person of their own personal impediments to the Mass through a welcoming atmosphere, ushers take an active role in enabling each person to come to a freer expression of God in the Liturgy.
The responsibilities of the ushers include arriving early to Mass to unlock doors and adjust the thermostats to an appropriate temperature, set up the altar for Mass by preparing the wine and hosts, greeting those who arrive for Mass, aid in finding available seats if necessary, taking up the collection, and locking doors and shutting down the building after Mass.
If you are interested in volunteering as an usher at one of the weekend Masses, please contact the Parish Secretary at 580.233.4589 to be placed on the list. Thank you for sharing your time with our faith community.
